Veiko Palm defended his title at the International Vocational Competition for Handcrafted Log Home Builders
The contest was a high-level event with tight competition. Veiko Palm won first place, defending his last years’ title. Finnish contestant Timo Aro-Heinilä won second place. Ahto Naruski came third, winning Mario Küttmann only by a second. The strong and equal level is also reflected by the fact that the difference between the second and fourth place was only 28 seconds.
The Vocational Competition for Handcrafted Log Home Builders is definitely one of the most important events of the sector, says one of the organisers of the competition and head of the Estonian Wooden Houses Cluster Lauri Kivil. Initially, the best Estonian handcrafted log home builders competed against each other but this year, foreign competitors proved to be serious competition. “The word on our competition has definitely reached further than Räpina and Estonia,” says Kivil. “I believe that we have found our own niche event as no similar event is being organised by our neighbours,” adds Kivil and hopes that next year, the competition will end up attracting even more international attention.
In addition to Timo Aro-Heinilä, Jonas Herrmann from Germany was also one of the foreigners to participate in the competition along with referee Morten Komdeur from the Netherlands.
